The article examines Serbian civil society as a contested space between modernization and renewed traditionalism. It analyses political culture, authoritarian legacies, political parties, and NGOs, arguing that democratic consolidation requires both institutional reform and the development of enduring civic values.

The article examines whether Hofstede’s dimensions of national culture correlate with country-risk and corruption-perception indicators in Central and Eastern Europe. Its empirical comparison finds only limited and inconsistent relationships between cultural similarity, corruption levels, and country risk.
