Abstract: The article compares the Austro-Hungarian Compromise and the British North America Act as constitutional responses to minority nationalism in multi-ethnic political communities. It explains Canada’s greater constitutional durability through federal accommodation, territorial clarity, and judicial interpretation, while examining the failure of the Dual Monarchy to reconcile competing national claims.
